Here's how to make some time for yourself!

Has it ever happened to you that you simply lost track of things and felt like you never have time for anything and keep waking up feeling dead tired day after day? We've all felt like we're going to snap under the burden of our tasks and that we simply can't sort things out while our mind is filled with all the tasks ahead of us.

Let me share five things that helped me make time for everything, including myself!

First of all: trust me, you can always find the time for breakfast, a walk or some exercise. You don't have to be a master planner, although it's true that it doesn't hurt if you like to keep things organized.

  1. You don't have to keep everything in mind!
It's no wonder you always feel exhausted if you keep on thinking of all the things you have to do. Get rid of these unnecessary thoughts and try learning some meditational or breathing techniques, go for a walk, run or start taking yoga lessons! Immerse yourself in a tub full of fragrant bathwater! Whatever you do, all that matters is that you find some time every day to quell your thoughts by the end of the day.

  1. Write things down or set a reminder!
Write down all the things you should remember in your phone or pocket diary: your shopping list, meetings, events, birthdays, etc. Set reminders for all of them, since it is in this way that you won't forget to call your granny or set an appointment with your dentist and you can save yourself a lot of annoyance, grievances and apologising.
Did you notice that there are barely a few drops left of your beauty oil? Are you running low on your favourite soap or facial pack? Add a reminder for these things so, when you finally get the chance to sit down in front of your computer, you'll remember to request a delivery.

  1. Filter the tide of information!
Are you flooded with a stream of unread letters and messages when you turn on your computer, or even worse, when you pick up your phone in the morning? Try setting up filters and prioritising in order to separate the more important messages from the inconsequential ones! Set up circles of friends so you can always devote some time to those who mean the most to you!
  1. You don't always have to be perfect in every way!
You can let yourself make a few mistakes with things which aren't of the utmost importance so you don’t have to always give your best day after day, since this way you can save up some time and energy for the truly important things! You don't have to always be the best in everything you do, instead try choosing a handful of things in which you won't tolerate any compromises and will settle for nothing but the best.
  1. Rethink your plans!
Once you have a well-functioning system, but you're faced with a growing number of tasks or duties or things are simply changing too fast in your mind or surroundings, try staying flexible and have the courage to rethink your day-to-day plans.
