Do people in their twenties age sooner today?
Based partly on research and partly on their own experiences, American dermatologists have claimed that more and more people suffer from continued skin problems as early as in their twenties – they also warned that today’s young women start growing wrinkles sooner.
What’s the reason for that?
Most doctors put that down to modern urban life. Dry, poor-quality air, smoking, stress, unhealthy diets and ill-chosen cosmetics are all responsible for an increasing number of young people suffering from skin conditions such as acne, eczema and inflammation. In the age of the ‘selfie’, many people strive to look picture perfect in every minute of the day so they clog their pores with thick layers of (often silicon –based) makeup which they only remove directly before bedtime; they spend fortunes to buy dozens of overpriced cosmetic products, not knowing that what their skin really needs is high-quality care based on natural ingredients. The experts also warn that our skin tends to age faster these days. Both our lifestyle and the amount of harmful sun radiation play their part in that. Manufacturers put chemical sunscreen into their creams – but at the same time, those chemicals may harm your skin and tip over the balance of your entire body. Sunbathing is not good for your skin at all – it accelerates skin aging, enhances wrinkles, causes liver spots and makes the skin slack.
What can you do to prevent or cure these problems?
- First off, let your skin breathe! If you use makeup, make sure you leave it only as long as it’s absolutely necessary. Wash it off as soon as you can and remove all traces of eyeliner.
- Avoid cosmetics that contain petrochemicals. You will see how grateful your skin will be once you start using fresh, gently hydrating Manna products that come from natural sources and contain lots of healthy vegetable oils.
- Choose gently cleansing cosmetics that fit your skin type.
- If you are one of those people grappling with continued, seemingly incurable skin conditions, have a look at our Solution bundles – you will find the one that’s best for you.
- If you spend longer times outdoors, use sunscreen containing physical filters (zinc-oxide, titanium-oxide) and make sure your skin is protected from hour-long direct contact with sunlight.
- If you already have smallish wrinkles, massage a bit of Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil or even shea butter into your cleansed, wet skin. It will soak up all the hydrating, nourishing drops. These light-texture oils won’t clog your pores at all.
