How did I become Soap Fairy?

How did I become Soap Fairy?

Manna’s story began in 2004. Just a few days after we brought him home from the hospital, our older son was full of rashes. The itchy, red patches made him cry day and night – and so I cried too.

We had no other choice: for the sake of our son we had to get rid of all synthetic cosmetics, creams and deodorants we had used and trusted before.

I started learning the ins and outs of chemical-free living.

Switching to natural, chemical-free cosmetics wasn’t easy at all. Besides the fact that I was facing a completely new situation (what should I buy instead of the usual products?) it took a lot of time and effort to get the knowledge on chemical-free lifestyle which, in those days, was far less popular and discussed than it is today. After a lot of research and learning I started making all our home cosmetics and detergents myself. Soon I ended up catering for the hygiene and well-being of not only my own family (by that time a family of four) but for our friends’ as well.

One day I started wondering what to do with myself after maternity leave as I knew that my former employer, the airport, wouldn’t take me back. It was then that I made the connection: what if I turned my hobby, soap making, into a business? My husband Emil liked the idea and gave it his full support.

In 2010, our third baby was born: Manna.

I enrolled to a 3-year course in naturopathy and life coaching. I also started blogging as Soap Fairy about healthy living and it was fantastic to see more and more people follow, read and share my posts. A lot of people came to me with a number of different problems – mostly skin conditions. Just like ours, a lot of other families saw positive change after switching to a healthier lifestyle.

Amazingly, we have got a lot of thanks, love and encouragement since the very beginning. Our first customers have been incredibly loyal, nearly all of them are shopping with us to this day, and they now use nothing else but Manna products.

While in training, I spent a lot of my spare time and many nights learning and experimenting. I will never forget those nights: Emil and I making soap and tiptoeing about so as not to wake up our sons who were sleeping quietly in their room.

My first memorable soap was a lavender soap, followed by Coco & Chocolate, a product we have been selling successfully ever since.

Today, we make over a hundred different Manna products – and we are full of plans.

Manna products are made at our own production plant by the best and most dedicated professionals. The amazing fact is that every single handmade soap testifies to the great work of nine people.

We are very proud to see our hard work and dedication bear fruit.

There is no other Hungarian natural cosmetics brand that compares to ours in terms of popularity and reputation.

So far, we have won the Hungarian Quality Product Award in three consecutive years (2012, 2013, 2014) with 34 products. Beyond that, Manna products are certified for purity and quality by the world’s foremost professional bodies in the field of natural cosmetics and nature/animal protection.

COSMOS Natural is a certificate for natural cosmetics awarded exclusively to products free from parabens, genetically modified ingredients, petrochemicals and other synthetic compounds. Another stamp of excellence, ‘COSMOS Organic’ can only be carried by products which comply with the following criteria: a minimum of 95 percent of vegetable ingredients must come from organic farms and these ingredients must make at least 20% of the final product. Passing the rigorous scrutiny we described above, more and more Manna products are awarded the BDIH certificate.

Manna Products are not only gentle to your skin – they are gentle to the environment too. You can take it for granted that no animals had to suffer for the making of our products.

Palm oil is a fundamental ingredient or additive in a whole range of products – from cosmetics to fuel. Cheap and easy to produce in various countries across the globe, palm oil is now in ever higher demand – and the expansion of palm oil plantations in West Africa and Southeast Asia is threatening a number of plant- and animal species with extinction. Week after week, a alarmingly high number of animals face the destruction of their natural habitat. One of those endangered species is the orangutan. It’s very important to us that we take part in the fight to saveguard rainforests so we guarantee that all Manna products are palm oil free.

Manna products encapsulate health, nature, a lot of work – and knowledge.

In 2013, I earned my life coach certificate to complement my MA degree in economics and marketing. But I’ve never stopped learning. On the contrary: I have been reading and researching tirelessly on chemical-free skin care and environmentally friendly living so that I can make the best and purest Manna products for You. This is my passion, my hobby, my work and my vocation.

I firmly believe that we are what we eat and what we put on our skin. I hope you will find my blog interesting and I can make chemical-free living an easy and straightforward choice for You. If you are hungry for more in-depth knowledge subscribe to a series of articles in which I uncover the dirty secrets of the cosmetics industry. And please, do share your experiences with us and feel free to ask questions from me or other soap fairies.

With love and care,
