The tricks and tips of our mothers and grandmothers mainly consist of simple, easy to use and highly effective methods.
Oddly enough, they practically use the same methods all over the world to treat various diseases, with some minor changes. This just goes to show how effective they can be!
These are my favourites:
Colds and spells of dizziness: ginger tea
If you caught a cold or often get sick in the car, then this is just what you need: grate a teaspoon sized piece of ginger and mix with 150 ml of boiling water and let the mixture set for 4-5 minutes. Add a little stevia as a sweetener, if you wish.
Fever: sweating
The various sweating techniques can be helpful: the more you sweat, the more balanced your body temperature will become. Wrap yourself in a warm blanket and drink a few glasses of water before slipping into bed so you wouldn't be dehydrated. This way, you can purge the toxins from your body through your sweat!
Ear aches: salt packs
I still remember how my grandma used to put some coarse salt in a big sock when I was child and then heat it and put it on my ear. This is still the best trick I know for dealing with this condition. You can also use some paraffin oil as it's a natural way of removing ear wax.
Coughing: onion tea
Peel and cook half an onion for a few minutes, then add a little lemon or cinnamon for a more pleasant taste. Slowly sip the tea while warm - it can do wonders, you'll see!
