Tea tree essential oil

Out of 300 tea tree subspecies, there’s only one, the Melaleuca alternifolia that yields tea tree essential oil. The oil is gained through a process involving water vapour distillation. The tea tree grows so fast that within 1-1.5 year(s) after felling the stomp produces a new, fully-grown tree. Its strong, spicy-woody scent is unmistakable.

This is the only essential oil (save lavender) that you can apply directly on your skin (with care, in small amounts and on a small area) without mixing it with anything else.

Warning: It may provoke allergic reactions in those who are intolerant to it.

How to use

    Externally:

You can vaporise it (e.g. in an aroma lamp) or use it in the sauna or in a bath. Add a few drops to the bathwater (mix it with milk beforehand) or make a massage oil.

    • For targeted use on spots
    • To treat dry skin, mix it with marigold oil or shea butter
    • To treat sunburn, mix it with marigold oil or shea butter
    • For dandruff, mix in cider vinegar rinse 4 drops of tea tree oil + 3 drops of lavender oil
    • Against sweaty feet: drip 4 drops of tea tree oil in the foot bath or mix it with marigold oil for foot care

    Manna tip:

How to use on spotty skin
Mix 2 drops of Tea tree essential oil with 15 ml of aloe vera gel (it’s best to pick it directly from the plant). If you don’t have aloe vera you can use cold-pressed oil (e.g. extra virgin olive oil, almond oil). Spread the mix on the affected area. Tea Tree Oil has an intense scent so it’s best to do this at night.
