5-step skin care routine to beat skin dryness

1. Hydrate your skin under the shower

Warm water and steam make pores wider and allow for quicker and more efficient absorption of moisturising butters, whipped body butters and oils. So let’s make the most of that opportunity! Following a shower or bath, you have about a minute to massage the moisturiser(s) into your wet skin. Once you’ve done that just dab away at the remaining drops of water with a towel.

2. Use beauty oil for facial care

During the winter it’s advisable that you switch to richer, denser and more nourishing oils – so that you can counter the effects of cold winds and the dry air of heated rooms. If you have been using water-based creams so far, now is the time to switch to beauty oil, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors – you will see how much your skin will love you for it. Wearing a makeup doesn’t mean you have to give up on this luxurious form of care. You simply have to give your skin some time (ideally a couple of minutes) to absorb the exotic butter or beauty oil before you start putting on your makeup.

3. Lip care first

There’s hardly anything more annoying than chapped lips – let alone their not-so-sexy looks. So how can you prevent that? In short: with regular scrubbing. Take a small blob of organic virgin coco butter out of the box with an out-of-use toothbrush, give your lips a gentle massage and let them absorb the oil properly. Follow up with lip balm – now you will find naturally coloured lip balms in Manna’s offering too!

4. With regular scrubs against scaly, dry skin

Take some time to give your body a thorough scrub once a week in order to get rid of dead skin cells. Whether you go for a brush or a natural, sugar-based scrub, make sure you scrub your body with gentle movements so as to avoid hurting your skin. Avoid scrubbing inflamed or injured areas.

5. Maintain good air humidity

House plants and vaporisation can help to deal with coughs and improve the overall health of your skin. Drinking a lot of liquid is not always enough – you have to take steps to reduce external moisture loss as well.

Are you suffering from oily skin rather than dry skin?

This might sound new but it’s worth bearing in mind that your skin may be trying to make up for a lack of moisture by increasing sebum production. Spots and acne may be caused by a variety of things but one of the main culprits of oily skin during the winter season (besides high-fat, more spicy foods) is increased moisture loss. If you are suffering from a similar skin problem, it’s definitely worth paying more attention to the internal and external hydration of your skin.
