Heres how to take care of your eyes

The integrity and beauty of our eyes are perhaps one of the most delicate issues which concern most people: we do everything we can to prevent dark circles, under-eye bags and crow's feet from appearing. A piercing gaze is perhaps the most effective "rejuvenating method", yet since the skin is the thinnest and most sensitive in this part of our face (apart from our lips), this area requires special care.

What can you do to preserve your radiant gaze?

  • If you wear glasses, don't put if off anymore and get your eyes checked every year to make sure you're wearing glasses with the right dioptre and don't leave the house without lens wipes. When choosing the frame, ensure it fits well and it doesn't slip down your nose since it can damage your skin if you're forced to keep your glasses in place with your facial muscles. That's why people's faces can change a lot when they remove their glasses one day from the next: their face is relieved, which helps the skin become smoother.

  • If you're wearing contact lenses, hygiene is the most important factor, since you can get nasty infections if you rub your eyes with dirty hands or if you don't regularly disinfect the container with hot water.

  • A lot of people are exceptionally sensitive to bright light, so instead of constantly squinting I suggest you wear sunglasses as soon as you walk outdoors. After a long day of studying or work, filtered light can be surprisingly pleasant as you walk out into the street. Furthermore, the lenses of your glasses protect your eyes against harmful radiation and also protect the sensitive skin under your eyes from damaging sunrays.

  • You can use a natural solution for your inflamed, exhausted eyes: inflammation of the eyes is traditionally treated with walnut leaf tea and a camomile compress, yet you can also put a chilled teaspoon on exhausted eyes or to get rid of the rings around them, along with cold black tea bags, raw cucumber or potato slices - you can try all of these to see which solution is the best for you.

  • In your day-to-day care, it's important to remove your makeup every evening (use a few drops of coconut or beauty oil on some cotton pads) and to pamper your skin with some rich oil or butter during the night, followed by sunscreen in the morning.

  • When taking care of your skin or applying makeup, don't rub or stretch your under-eye skin, but instead, facilitate the absorption of oil with the gentle tapping of your fingers.

  • Be careful not to get any cosmetics used for treating greasy skin containing essential oils (for example, tea tree oil) or other products with a drying effect into your eyes.

  • One more detail to round off the list: perhaps it never occurred to you, but dehydration or an excess amount of water first becomes visible around your eyes. It's not enough to hydrate your skin externally if you don't drink enough liquids or if you eat too many foods containing a large amount of salt, sugar or artificial additives, since it will surely leave a mark on your eyes as well. Seemingly worn out eyes with rings or under-eye bags can also be indicative of such problems.
