Refreshing news for hot days

Thoroughly washing your hands in warm water is one of the cheapest and most effective way of preventing various infections. Whether it's late-autumn flu or heatwave indigestion, clean hands get you half way to health, moreover, you'll not only protect yourself, but also the health of the people around you by thoroughly washing.

A lot of people think they can save time by skipping washing their hands before a meal or after coming home and that they can protect the skin of the backs of their hands by washing them less frequently in warm, soapy water.

They couldn't be more mistaken.

According to microbiological studies, ten seconds are enough to thoroughly wash your hands, although this obviously doesn't include the time spent opening the tap and drying your hands. In fact, it transpired that the water temperature is not so important: there is no great difference between washing hands in cold or lukewarm water. The participants of the research washed hands in 15, 26 and 37 degree Celsius water after which they examined the residue of pathogens on their skin. It turned out that the water temperature makes no difference, all that counts is that the soap foam comes into contact with your hands for ten seconds and when necessary, to scrub the skin in order to remove the stains.

Yes, I know that a lot of soaps and liquid handwash soaps dry the skin and people with nail polish don't like regularly washing their hands, yet it's a fact that regularly washing your hands is the best way to fight off epidemics. In fact, it can be a refreshing experience to wash the inside of your wrists with pleasantly cool water.
As far as dry skin on the back of your hands is concerned, you can keep a jar of your favourite Manna beauty oil or shea butter at hand. Come to think of it, have you tried our brand new, pure white and creamy shea butter filtered through volcanic rock?
