Salt soaps and other treats

Salt is indispensible for the healthy function of your body, however, it has a host of other useful and even curative features:

It dehumidifies, deodorizes and perfumes your home

A bowl of salt in the fridge or covered with an old stocking placed in your shoes can banish unpleasant odours and absorb unnecessary moisture which could lead to the spread of fungus. When mixed with a few drops of essential oil, you can use it to scent any part of your home.

It's a disinfectant, soothing and curing your ailments

Inhaling salt crystals dissolved in water can mitigate respiratory conditions, the urge to cough and even headaches.
For thousands of years, mankind has been aware of the physical and mental refreshment offered by salty baths and salt caves. Salt chambers are becoming increasingly widespread in saunas and even in institutions for young children, such as nurseries and kindergartens.
It's no coincidence they recommend salt pipe inhalers for patients, whilst salt water gargling or nose rinses can be an effective preventive measure against viruses, colds and hay fever.

It cleanses

Salt can be used for a wide range of skin conditions: folk remedies often prescribe applying a salty solution - a paste made from water and salt - on itchy, irritated, inflamed or fungus afflicted skin surfaces, leading to the invention of "salt soap" made from blocks of salt hundreds of years ago.

A paste made from salt and cold water is great for removing stubborn wine and blood stains from even the most delicate fabrics and you can even use it to remove patches of fungus.

It's a great way of relieving stress

Mixed in bathwater, it can help you relax after a long, gruelling day with headaches - all you have to do is mix one half to one kilo worth of sea salt in your bathwater. Naturally, you can also use some of your favourite Manna essential oil; just make sure you mix it with a tablespoon of olive, coconut or other beauty oil before adding it to the water.

Manna COCO Salt Soap - a true delight

As you can see, there are many reasons why we love salt and it's also why I decided quite some time ago that I simply had to make a natural salt soap. The Manna COCO Salt Soap is unique in its own right since not only is it a soap-shaped block of salt, but also a delightfully foamy, cleansing and nurturing natural cosmetic.

The COCO Salt Soap is made from cold-pressed coconut oil and organic Ghana shea butter with the addition of a great deal of sea salt, so you would sense the tiny grains gently massaging your skin during its use. It's almost entirely scent-free and contains no natural essential oils or colouring and thus I can safely recommend it for those with sensitive skin.

If you're looking for a more characteristic scrub than the COCO Salt Soap, you should try our lemony-cinnamon biscuit smelling Luffa Body Scrub made with sea salt, luffa powder and silky coconut oil. After a shower or a bath, use it to thoroughly massage your body for velvety, naturally scented skin.
