Washing Your Face Step by Step

So you think washing your face is the simplest thing in the world? Think again. I get many questions which indicate that there are a surprisingly great number of people suffering from skin problems because they don't cleanse and treat their skin properly.

I hope it will help if I summarize all the steps of how to remove impurities from your facial skin.
  1. Wash your hands first
Yes, it's crucial that you only touch your face with clean hands and to wash your hands before cleaning your face. However, you should consider giving up on antibacterial soaps for good. You can find out more about this subject here.
  1. Use lukewarm water
Hot water can damage your skin's sensitive protective layer and cause tiny enlarged veins on your facial skin. On the other hand, washing your face with cold water isn't enough for the soap to truly clean your skin. Lukewarm water is just right to wash your face.
  1. Moisten your face
Soap foam can cleanse wet skin in a gentler manner without drying the skin out
  1. Foam the soap in your hand and then apply it on your face
Some Manna soaps provide a richer foam than others, for example our White Satin Facial Cleansing Soap or the Fairy Berry soap have a creamier lather, whilst our Extra Virgin Olive Oil soap made for the most sensitive skin practically has no foam at all. If you're not sure which natural, chemical and palm oil-free Manna soap to use for facial cleansing purposes, complete our skin type test!
  1. Thoroughly wash the soap from your face
Pay close attention to your hairline and the bottom of your chin, since residual soap foam on these areas can easily block your pores.
  1. Only use clean and soft towels
I trust that it goes without saying that all fabrics, sponges and scrubs regularly used for washing become a nest of bacteria, so I don't recommend using such things to wash your face. Make sure you use a soft facial towel, regularly replace it and, if possible, use it only it for washing your face and nothing else, especially if you have sensitive skin prone to acne and eczema.
  1. Apply facial care butters, whipped butters or beauty oil on moist skin
This way, you can prevent your skin's loss of moisture in a truly effective way.

+1 Always wash your face before applying a mask. It is also important to remove impurities before using scrubs, unless you use our COCO Salt Soap which is a combination of soap and a scrub. :)
