Congratulations!

Thank you and congratulations, you have made the right choice. I hope that from now on, you will never ever let cosmetics manufacturers deceive you with mass-produced products of obscure origin. By using those products you unsuspectingly consume toxic chemicals through your entire life, putting at risk not just your own health but that of your children too.

In the next few days we will empower you with useful and valuable knowledge so that you can navigate your way through the toxic chemicals used in personal care products.

You will get an insight into a world hidden from most people. You will get to know the dark side of the cosmetics industry and the list of the most hazardous chemicals. It’s going to be a good read and it will help you to change your life and make informed and critical choices in the drug store or in the supermarket.

Use these chapters as your guide, take note of dangerous compounds and never let anyone trick you into buying them again!

This series features a lot of useful information but it’s not nearly as long and detailed as to be regarded as a scientific paper. Our aim is to give a summary of the most important information about chemicals and synthetic additives most commonly used by the beauty industry.

You are absorbing toxins in every single minute!
Day in, day out, you use a lot of different products which are absorbed through your skin or hair. Other agents enter your body as you inhale or swallow them. Many of those compounds are linked to severe diseases such as cancer, to skin problems as well as birth defects.

Some ingredients have long been proven harmful to human health – and yet their application is still legal despite robust scientific evidence! Those ingredients include synthetic scents, phthalates and petrochemicals. Since 2004, agencies and authorities of the European Union have banned more than 1,000 hazardous substances. In other places of the world, the beauty industry is still off the leash and free to poison customers with products such as the lead-laden lipstick.

Global cosmetics companies argue that their products only contain tiny amounts of the chemicals indicated on the labels – i.e. ‘it’s below the safe limit’. On the other hand, there are dozens of clinical tests which show that certain chemicals will damage your health even if you consume just a tiny bit of them. Bear in mind that it’s not just about a single product – you may use up to 25 different cosmetics every day! These contain up to hundreds of ingredients most of which you barely know about. Then consider the additives that you consume in your food every day – in the end, the additives can add up and mutually strengthen each others’ toxic effect. So it goes day after day, year after year – till when? Well, that depends on your good fortune – and maybe on yourself!

Perhaps at this point you hardly believe that mammoth companies produce and sell products with highly dangerous chemicals on a global scale – poisoning billions of people. You still trust the well-paid celebrity, the TV ad and the beautifully designed label, fully convinced that ‘clinically tested’ products can only be safe. Yet the fact that something has been tested on innocent animals and bold volunteers only means that a product usually doesn’t cause acute reactions. Those clinical trials don’t examine (and therefore they tell us nothing about) the risks of severe or even irreversible health damage which could result from the long-term (or lifelong) use of a product. It’s not required by licensing bodies and it’s not the concern of cosmetics companies. What matters is long shelf life and attractive texture.

In the following days you can learn about the most dangerous chemicals used in the cosmetics industry. Don’t look at the running order as a ranking – it’s best to avoid all of those chemicals!
Thank you for your patience, I will be back with soon with the next part of the series.

For now, I wish you a wonderful and chemical-free day!
