Foot care masterclass: 6 summer tips for fluffy steps!

Whether you love flip-flops, sandals with thin straps or elegant stilettos, your legs are sure to be in full display over the summer!

Besides enjoying the fresh air on your legs, springy steps and the touch of warm sunshine, you might not notice how the summer takes a toll on your legs! This is no wonder, since this is the season that takes the greatest toll on your "handing gear". The reason is simple: the skin of those who wear sandals produces a thicker outer layer of skin than those wearing shoes. The hot air, sand and sunrays only intensify this, so it's no wonder that some of us have cracked heels whilst others deal with the unpleasant feature of dry, craggy skin. Not to mention that poorly groomed legs lend a rather poor appearance.
That's precisely why it's important to take good care of your feet - even during the summer!

1.Scrub at least once a week!

Scrubbing is important, since it helps you remove the dead skin cells from the skin on your feet. Use a mixture of sea salt and olive or coconut oil and apply it on your feet, soles and heels. If you have sensitive skin, you can use sugar instead of salt, which has smaller grains! You can try the Manna Luffa body scrub or the Manna body scrub with grape powder made with brown sugar.

2.Avoid soaking your feet!

Contrary to popular belief, soaking your legs for a long period of time will only dry your skin. Rub the scrub along your sole and heels and then simply wipe it off with a wet towel.

3.Use a pumice stone!

Did you know that women already scrubbed their soles with stones in ancient times for a silky-smooth touch? When showering, always have a pumice stone or a rasp at hand in order to remove hardened skin. Don't get carried away: there's a reason why your skin is thicker on your feet than on your hands!

4.Nourish and pamper your skin!

The skin on your heels is thicker, which lets it absorb less water. Right after showering or bathing try applying some shea butter or coconut oil while massaging your feet and legs, which is sure to help you unwind.

5.Don't forget to use sunscreen!

Those who, like me, had sunburns on their feet know that using sunscreen on their toes in a must! Just think about it, this is practically the only part of your body which constantly comes in contact with sunrays at a right angle!

6.Let your skin breathe!

This is particularly true for your nails. Don't let your nails "go without sunshine" for months under multiple layers of bright coloured polish. The best idea is to take a one week break per month so your nails would get some fresh air!
