Here's how to deal with enlarged pores

If you haven't faced the problem until now, consider yourself lucky. Enlarged, clearly visible pores are mostly associated with skin prone to greasiness, yet genes also play a role in this: it can be hereditary, just like your skin type which, according to dermatologists, can often be accompanied by a darker skin tone.

So what causes it? Your pores are your skin's outlet channels, leading to the follicles which release sweat and sebum that provides for your skin's natural protection and elasticity.

If you have skin prone to greasiness, enlarged pores are typically noticed around the forehead and nose, which don't improve over the years. Many people cope with this minor, yet annoying issue which, although can't be eliminated, it can be effectively mitigated even at home without using any chemicals, lending your skin a healthier, more unified and youthful appearance.

What can you do about enlarged pores?

Apart from using heavy make-up, which can temporarily hide the problem, you have other options: naturally, just as in other cases, the key here is gentle care suited to the current condition of your skin, which relieves your skin of the accumulated sebum, dead skin cells and related impurities.

  • thorough, yet gentle cleansing for your skin
Find the Manna soap which suits your skin type! Our range of facial cleansing soaps includes two Mannas with medical grade charcoal powder. I recommend using them for greasy, acne-afflicted skin along with our Facial Cleansing Soap with Camphor or perhaps the COCO Tea Tree Oil soap – the great advantage of the latter is that you can apply it from head to toe, even for washing your hair. For more sensitive, dehydrated or combination skin, I recommend using the White Satin Facial Cleansing soap or the COCO Shea Butter soap. If you have extra sensitive or irritated skin which easily becomes flushed, you can apply our Extra Virgin Olive Oil soap. Ensure that you avoid using cosmetics which dry out your skin since these will simply lead to an increased production of sebum.

  • regular use of scrubs
For this purpose, I recommend our COCO Salt soap for you, with tiny granules, a mild sea-like scent and soft foam which you are sure to grow fond of.

  • facial masks
What sets the best masks apart is that they refresh your skin when mixed with water and applied on the skin surface, absorbing any unnecessary sebum and when washed off, not only do they make your skin look cleaner, it also feels like they're a breath of fresh air for your pores.

You can use our Manna clay masks even several times a week. They're made from a range of unique clays which give them a lovely white, blue or grey tint since they don't even contain natural colouring agents. I recommend using the Blue Mask for greasy skin which features tea tree oil and spirulina, a special type of skin-friendly sweet water algae. The Skin Nourishing Mask with White Clay is particularly for sensitive, dry skin which is simply irresistible due to its real goat milk and fruit powder content, whilst our Alginite Mask contains the treasures of Lake Balaton and is suitable for all skin types, not to mention that when rinsing it from the skin, its fine granules thoroughly massage your skin, thus doubling as a scrub.
  • using light and pure skincare products which don't clog your pores
This is just as important as the above-listed considerations. Light daytime and night-time skincare which suits your skin type and lets your pores breathe can make your skin look fresh with fine pores all day long. If you only want to choose a single Manna which you can use anytime during the day or the night, I recommend a firm favourite, the exotic Moroccan Argan Beauty Oil which is quickly absorbed into the skin, since it's just the thing you're looking for.
