How is your inner clock ticking?
You can't get used to getting up early either? Is it a struggle in the winter to compose yourself in the morning? Are you simply incapable of truly getting work done or studying before 9 or 10 in the morning? Or perhaps it's the other way around and you're the type who gets up early and can only really focus on your work or studies in the morning?
It's good to keep in mind that this isn't about laziness, it's just a matter of our biological clock. A great number of studies were published about how it's verging on the torturous to teach classes in schools or start your tasks at your workplace at eight, since most people are simply unable to focus and pay attention so early in the morning.
As adults, many of us have different ways of waking up in the morning with a range of tricks and lots of coffee whilst others do yoga or go running in the morning and even have time for breakfast.
If you instinctively get up early in the morning, perhaps you have no idea how hard it is for people who stay up late to get used to starting work early in the morning. Not only does the constant lack of sleep and exhaustion, too much caffeine and the ensuing increase intake of calories ruin the performance of these people, it also poses serious health risks for them.
It's time to take the diversity of human nature into account at work and in education, providing more and more people with the opportunity of starting work and school at a later time. Don't you agree?
