Prepare your skin for holiday

It’s time for the summer holiday. Planning your trip yet? Whether it’s a seaside holiday, a mountain climb, a music festival or a city break, you will need these useful tips to protect your skin health.

This time of the year your skin needs extra care and protection. A quality sun cream is a good start but it’s not enough. I’ve got some really useful tips for you even if you have chosen to relax at home this year.

7 tips before you travel

1. If you have spots or blackheads pay a visit to your cosmetician a few days ahead of your travel. Have your skin cleansed to minimise potential damage the sun may cause. If you don’t have time for all that give your face a through cleansing and a face mask

2. If you have dry skin and you are planning to travel to the seaside or to the mountains, I suggest you take a Natural Care Bundle and your favourite beauty oil with you. Both will be helpful in neutralizing the unpleasant effects of extra-strong sun radiation and/or sea water.

3. I always pack a pot of shea butter for the trip: it’s a fantastic at soothing your skin after sunbathing. It’s also useful to treat dry foot and heels after long walks in the city or on the hot sand of the beach as it softens and regenerates the skin. It will also bring relief if your shoes are hurting your feet. And there is more: you can even apply it to your face – it won’t clog your pores.

4. Are you planning exhausting city walks or long trips? Natural and vegan, Manna flower waters are body mists designed to refresh you any time, in seconds. Pop one in your bag and let the scents follow you everywhere.

5. If you have long hair and a split-ends problem, give your hair tips a few drops of beauty oil in the evenings to protect them from being damaged by the sun, dry wind and sweat.

6. I hope it goes without saying that sun protection is crucial during holidays. So by all means bring your sunglasses as well as a sun cream (with zinc or titanium-oxide) whose SPF matches your skin type. Protect your entire body with the cream ever day. If you can, avoid going out to the sun at midday hours – although your sun cream may protect you from sunburn, it won’t protect against sun rays that damage your skin’s DNA in the long term and cause premature aging.

7. Bring a hat, cap or scarf to protect your hair from the drying effects of the sun and the wind. Take extra care if you have dyed hair.
If you have sensitive skin, be prepared for its potential reaction to changing conditions (different humidity, food, air dust, etc.). Rushing around for cosmetics on your holiday is less than entertaining – so it’s best to prepare everything before you jet off.
