Tips for a perfect wakeup

Does it ever happen to you that your face ‘wakes up’ later than yourself? Are you suffering from wrinkles or puffiness around the eyes? Here are some tips to prevent the collection of water in your facial skin:

1. Water, water, pure water

The first signs of not drinking enough water always appear on the face. So it’s important that you pay due attention to hydration throughout the day – and later in the evening too.

2. What did you eat and drink the night before?

Blame the morning swelling of the eyelids on salty food. You can easily overdose salt (unwittingly) if you eat processed food like biscuits, bacon and other packaged meat or foods that contain a lot of preservatives. It goes without saying that if you drink alcohol you will need to consume generous amounts of water too – to prevent the symptoms of hangover as well as the puffing of the face.

3. Allergy

Unfortunately, the annoying symptoms could also be down to allergy. Hay-fever, high sensitivity to certain cosmetic components, food allergy, high histamine level foods (e.g. matured cheese) and red wine could all cause puffiness on the face.

4. Sleep deprivation

Tiredness will also show on your face first. A good sleep will make you more beautiful indeed – as long as you don’t bury your head into your pillow.

5. Hormonal shifts

Many women face the problem of their body withholding water in the second half of their monthly cycle or during pregnancy.

What can you do about it?
  • Wash your face with cool (but not ice cold) water first thing in the morning
  • Drink a cup of green tea or a large glass of water and with lemon juice or fruit juice
  • Put on your eyes slices of gherkin, potato or black tea bags (already cooled after use)
  • Exercising more will benefit your entire body, including your microcirculation
  • Consume more calcium – you can also buy it in capsules or fizzing tablets
